da betsson: West Ham’s first campaign under the stewardship of Slaven Bilic was an overwhelming success.
da poker: As the two Davids lick their lips at the potential revenue from their new stadium, Bilic is proving to everyone why he was such a desired manager.
The Hammers punched above their weight in 2015/16, with their star, Dimitri Payet, going on to perform at the same level during the Euros this summer.
It has been a stellar couple of years for the Irons, with the club going from strength to strength and making big steps forward to expand both on and off the pitch.
The owners will have been as pleased with last season as anyone and Bilic, if the club can keep hold of him, is a true diamond. This season will be the difficult second album for Bilic, but there is reason to be optimistic in East London.
Here are FIVE of those reasons…
Olympian Credentials
A big stadium doesn’t mean a club will be a success on the pitch, but it sure can help.
Aside from the financial rewards for higher numbers through the gates, the cauldron atmosphere that could be developed at the Olympic Stadium could create a formidable atmosphere.
West Ham have always prided themselves on playing well in front of their own fans and a swollen attendances might just improve that further.
Big City investment
David Gold and David Sullivan are clearly not afraid to invest in the side, which makes quite a difference with the competitive nature of the transfer market this summer.
Where other clubs are still faffing around the odd million here or there, West Ham are showing an ability to get the transfer done far quicker than many competitors.
(Except with the current Carlos Bacca saga…)
Leader of Men
Having a great manager is more than half the job done when it comes to making a football team successful.
In Slaven Bilic, West Ham have just the man for the job. Clearly a supreme motivator, bold decision maker and faultless representative of the club, Bilic is the sort of man you would want to be delivering an inspiring half-time speech.
Dreaming Owners
You are never going to achieve anything unless you believe you can. West Ham, from the owners to the players, have an assured confidence that they really can mix it with the bigger Premier League clubs.
Finances are hardly an issue in the modern game and much of attracting players is convincing them that you both are aiming for the stars, and that you can get there.
Entering the Stratosphere
Few clubs who have yo-yo’ed as frequently as West Ham manage to sign, and retain, a player who has impressed the entire footballing world as much as Dimitri Payet.
Keeping players of that calibre the club can only increase their reputation and, subsequently, attract new players to the club.
West Ham can use Payet, along with some of their other signings, as examples of where they are heading. Tokens of their ambition, if you will.
