da brdice: Arsenal have officially announced that striker Stephy Mavididi has joined Juventus on a permanent deal, and it will leave fans wondering what could happen to the likes of Eddie Nketiah in the future.
What’s the story?
da esport bet: The 20-year-old spent time on loan with both Preston North End in the Championship and Charlton Athletic in League One last season. He was not able to make a big impact at either club though.
This move is a very odd bit of business on the part of the Italian giants, especially with Mavididi not even having been considered as close to the Arsenal first team.

However, the Turin club’s interest begs the question as to whether the Gunners failed to spot the true potential of the young English forward.
If Mavididi is able to make himself a success in Serie A, then questions must be asked of Arsenal’s academy who have failed to produce a striker of first team quality for a long time.
With Chuba Akpom having already left the club this summer, Mavididi has simply become the most recent in a long line of promising young strikers, including Yassin Fortune and Kaylen Hinds, who have failed to make the grade at the Emirates Stadium in recent seasons.
This suggests a problem the club are facing at youth level to get the best out of these young marksmen. However, there is one at the club who can still dream of bucking that trend.
All eyes on Eddie
Nketiah enjoyed something of a breakout campaign at the Emirates last season. The 19-year-old made 10 senior appearances in all competitions last time out, and even scored two goals.
Having played a prominent role in pre-season under new manager Unai Emery, the England under-21 international will be looking to kick on again this time around.
With Akpom and Mavididi now out of the picture, Nketiah stands as the last great striking hope of this generation of Arsenal academy products. The club and fans alike will be hoping that the youngster has what it takes to be the one who makes the grade for the Gunners.
