Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to reveal that they would like to see Adam Lallana make a return to St Mary’s.The 34-cap England international left the Saints to join Liverpool back in the summer of 2014 in a deal worth £25m, where he penned a long-term contract at Anfield.
Since then, the Southampton academy graduate has won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup with the Reds, while he also looks certain to become a Premier League winner this year with Liverpool 22 points clear of second-place Manchester City.
Lallana made 261 appearances for the Saints before departing, scoring 59 goals and recording 48 assists.
However, he has found chances hard to come by under Jurgen Klopp this season, starting only three Premier League games.
Additionally, The Evening Standard believe that Liverpool have no intention of offering the midfielder another contract this summer when his current terms expire.
Let’s see what the Southampton fans have been saying about their former No.20…
To kick off the reaction, ‘Saint Foo Fighter’ said that they’d “love to have Adz back” as he is a “special player” and there is “no doubting his talent” – this fan also added that he’d “add quality and experience” to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s squad.
Then, Lee said that Lallana would be a decent player to rotate the starting XI members with, and would also be good if Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leaves this summer – the Dane is believed to be on Tottenham’s radar.
Elsewhere, these two supporters also voiced their desire to see Lallana return to the south coast.
Mark said he’d “take him back in a heartbeat” whereas Ewan Campbell said that the Englishman would “walk into our team” – Ewan also said he’d “bite your hand off to have him back”.
Lastly, @Saints1885_com said that they’d “love to see” Lallana return to St Mary’s as he remains a quality player and would also “instantly improve our team”.
Then, @JonWooders shared a similar view by simply replying to that tweet with the word “agreed”.
